Glencore sparks interest for Asian tranche of $7bn loan

Bankers expect a strong response to the Asian tranche of a $7bn loan for Glencore — the biggest deal of the year to hit Asia from the commodity sector — after more than 200 people attended launch presentations earlier this week.

More than 100 attended the Singapore roadshow on Monday, 60 in Taipei and 50 in Hong Kong on Tuesday. Taiwanese and Chinese banks that have played in the commodities sector before showed particular interest, said a banker on the deal.
