Chinese wind power duo go head-to-head in Hong Kong

China’s two biggest power companies, China Huaneng Group and China Datang Corp, are up against each other in the Hong Kong market this week, with both launching the IPOs of their wind power subsidiaries — a situation that has surprised even the bookrunners.

The deals will be the third and fourth Hong Kong IPOs from the renewable energy sector so far this year, as China increasingly focuses on alternative energy.
