Ontario delivers $1.25bn global as US Treasury yields soar

The Province of Ontario issued a $1.25bn global seven year bond on Wednesday, taking advantage of the week’s spike in US Treasury yields.

Doubts over the Federal Reserve’s abilities to extend its quantitative easing programme to over $600bn, increased growth expectations and further tax cuts triggered heavy Treasury selling.

US investors saw this as an opportunity to capture soaring yields. More than half of the buyers were from the Americas.
