‘Club loans harm underwriting and margins’

Club deals are damaging the loan market and are the "bane" of syndication heads, the Asia Pacific Loan Market Association’s annual conference in Singapore heard on Thursday.

Around 30% of deals this year have been club transactions, according to figures from ANZ, inhibiting opportunities for underwriting and pushing pricing to artificially low levels.
