Co-op hires veteran CEO in hunt for fresh capital
The Co-operative Group has hired veteran HSBC banker Niall Booker as CEO of Co-op Bank and deputy CEO of the Co-op Group, as the firm seeks to address problems with its balance sheet and capital shortfall in the wake of Moody’s recent shock downgrade.
Booker, whose career at HSBC spanned 30 years, will start his new job on June 10.
He will also be a member of the board of Co-op Bank.
