Asian bond volatility to test demand for income

As US interest rates normalise and quantitative easing comes to an end, Asian bonds are set to become more volatile, which will test investor demand for income over total returns.

Bond yields in Asia moved sharply upwards last week, spurred by recent comments from Federal Reserve (Fed) chairman Ben Bernanke. This is a sign of things to come and investor demand for income versus total returns will be brought to the fore.
