Insurance player adds margin tool for regulation

Chilean life insurance company Confuturo this week announced its adoption of Bloomberg’s multi-asset risk system (MARS) collateral management tools, in an effort to manage the demands of new global margin rules.

Several regulatory regimes around the world have instituted rules that mandate for the exchange of collateral in the form of both initial and variation margin in over-the-counter derivatives transactions, in theory reducing counterparty risk and making the market more resilient to shock.
